Chad & Sabrina

Meet Chad & Sabrina

This loving couple contacted me last winter when Chad wanted to surprise his fiance with a marriage proposal in downtown Seattle on new years eve. We had it all planned out when to meet where to meet even what corner to stay on to photograph so that she wouldn't notice me right away as he proposed. Instead weather played tricks on us and Chad was stuck at a airport and unable to meet.
He decided to propose anyway and she said yes! So once the weather was nicer we schedule a session at the Yakima Arboretum. I had a lovely time photographing their love among the tree blossoms, spring is my favorite time to photograph at the arboretum.
Below are a few of my favorite images, hope you enjoy!

Getting ready for WPPI

I'm packing my bags getting ready to attend the WPPI convention in Las Vegas at the MGM hotel!
This will be my 3rd trip to WPPI and this time my great assistant/friend Danielle will be coming with me! I'm super excited to be attending and can't wait to listen to all the motivating and educational classes!
As I pack my bags my adorable almost 4yrold brings me our favorite book that we read anytime I go away on a trip. It's called "Mommy always comes home" by Karma Wilson and illustrated by Brooke Dyer.

It's a cute story that starts out with a mama bird flying away to get some food and bring it home, her babies are sad to see her go, but she reminds them that Mama always comes home. The story continues with different animals each having a reason to leave, but always returns. The last pages show a mommy having to leave her little one to go on a trip and she reminds him that he'll have fun while she's away and before you know it mama will come home.
I discovered this book by another photographers blog post in 2008, since then I've been reading it first to my oldest son and now to both boys. It helped my boys know that mommy was coming back from her trip and not to be sad mama was leaving. My husband reads it to the boys every night till I return too. Looking forward to attending WPPI and sharing all the fun I'll have there, but also looking forward to returning home to my sweet boys!

Why Engagement sessions are important

When meeting new couples who are booking me for their wedding, I always seem to get that same question asking how important it is having an engagement session. Most clients love the idea of booking that session with me so that they can use the images in their custom designed guest book album or use the engagement photos to be displayed at the wedding venue, but a few feel like it’s unnecessary and something they can sacrifice for their budget needs. I personally disagree with cutting out the engagement sessions.

An engagement session is a great way for me to get to know you both better. I get to know your personalities more, see how you both interact with each other and see how comfortable you feel in front of the camera.  Photographing your engagement session with me will also help you get even better photographs on your wedding day.

During the engagement session you get to know me, my personality and my shooting style better, which allows you to feel more comfortable in front of the lens and relaxed for your wedding day.  Also engagement sessions are fun! You get a chance to be photographed at a location of your choice, a local park, your favorite spot downtown, or where you got engaged. We walk, talk, play and joke around while I uniquely capture the love between you both.

In a way I feel like engagement sessions are like the pep-rally before the wedding day. Once you view your photos from your engagement session I guarantee you’ll be even more excited for your big day! So when booking your photographer be sure to ask if they offer engagement sessions!

2013 Central Washington Bridal show

The 30th Annual Central Washington Bridal show was a huge success! My assistant Danielle & I really had a great time meeting all the new 2013 & 2014 brides and grooms. What was your favorite part of the show? I really enjoyed the cake dive and of course the fashion show was amazing! Big hand to Lin-Pauls Bridal & Tuxedo store located here in Yakima & Fashion Corner located in Sunnyside on their stunning dresses. Be sure to read the Bliss magazine that was handed out at the show. Lots of great info in their and an article that I wrote about engagement sessions! Below are a few images from the show I also posted some on my fanpage and of course you can find more images and all the recap info on the Central Washington Bridal Show website & its fanpage!
